Spaghetti and Mushroom Bacon Burgers

Friday we decided to do a game night so instead of making the burgers I had planned on. I made spaghetti sauce in the crockpot.

I don't have a recipe. I just throw in whatever I have in the pantry.
This time I used:
2 (15 oz) cans spaghetti sauce
1 (15 oz) can stewed tomatoes that was going to expire soon
1 lb ground beef, browned
dried basil
minced garlic
1 (4 oz) can mushrooms
dried minced onion
Italian seasoning
pinch of sugar

Last night I made Mushroom Bacon Burgers. They were so good. I was a little nervous about burning them because I usually just make plain burgers but they were really easy to make.
The only thing I changed was to omit the salt and I used sazon instead.

Crockpot Pot Roast

As soon as I decided I wanted to get back into blogging my internet decided to cut in and out. Maybe the universe is trying to tell me something? We are getting a new modem today and that should solve the problem.

Cooking has been hit or miss....mostly miss.

Tuesday- I took out a frozen rotisserie chicken and when I went to use it, it smelled bad. So my daughter made grilled cheese.

Wednesday- I made a pot roast in the crockpot. There's not really a recipe. I just use whatever beef roast is the least expensive. I place that in the crockpot and pour 2 cans of cream of chicken soup, a package of dry onion mix and a cup of water over it after I've mixed it all together. It always turns out perfect.

Yesterday I went to Winco to get water and I cannot resist the sushi and crab salad there. I threw my menu plan off but that happens sometimes.

Salisbury Steak

My first day back in the kitchen actually cooking after over a year didn't go too badly. I picked a recipe that I've used a bunch of times. It still felt like I was re-learning how to cook.

I used my favorite recipe for:   Salisbury Steak w/ Rice.

I did change a few things:

I couldn't remember how to separate an egg so I just used the whole thing.

I eyeballed some dried minced onion because I only had giant onions.

I used Walmart brand club crackers.

I substituted Adobo for salt

I used a can of great value beef gravy because it was cheaper.

I used a jar of mushrooms because I had it in my pantry.

I added some creole seasoning to the gravy because it was kind of bland.

For veggies I had open packs of peas and corn in the freezer. I just mixed them together to get rid of them.

I even did some baking- Blueberry Muffins. It was a mix but I'm on baby step level right now. I had forgotten how amazing baking smells.
